Frazier Park Elementary School witnessed an exhilarating celebration as students gathered outside to receive their eagerly-awaited bags of books from Books Are Fun, earned through the Book Blast fundraising event. The event culminated in a thrilling countdown led by Mr. McNelis, followed by the students enthusiastically tearing open their bags.
“I’m thrilled to see our students’ faces light up with excitement as they discover new books,” said Mr. McNelis. “This event embodies the spirit of learning and fosters a love for reading that will last a lifetime.”
“I’m incredibly proud of our students and the entire school community for their outstanding participation,” exclaimed Mrs. Hon, reading intervention teacher and Book Blast organizer. “This event not only promotes reading, but also fosters a love for learning.”
The students’ reactions were priceless. “The books are amazing!” said Anngila, a beaming student. “I got five new books, and I already read two last night!” Shems chimed in, “I loved the choices! Can we do this again next year?” Karson enthusiastically shared, “I read my new book as soon as I got home!”
Teachers echoed the excitement. “Witnessing our students’ passion for reading grow is truly rewarding,” said Mrs. Thomason. “It’s wonderful to see them develop a love for reading that extends beyond the classroom.” Mrs. Page added, “This event brings our school community together, and we’re grateful for the support of our families and staff.” Mrs. Page further emphasized, “Seeing students’ faces light up when they find their favorite authors or genres is pure magic!” Mrs. Dominguez noted, “Book Blast encourages our students to explore diverse genres and authors, broadening their perspectives.” She continued, “It’s heartwarming to see students share their new books with classmates, fostering a sense of community.”
The school received an impressive $12,000 in donations from parents, relatives, and friends, enabling each student to receive at least two new books, with some receiving up to ten, courtesy of their sponsors. Additional prizes from Books Are Fun further delighted the students.
“We’re grateful for the staff’s tireless efforts in encouraging students to secure sponsors,” acknowledged Mrs. Hon. Given the event’s resounding success, Frazier Park Elementary is eagerly anticipating next year’s Book Blast. As Mrs. Hon noted, “This event has become an integral part of our school’s reading culture, and we can’t wait to do it again!”
