October Attendance Celebration: Principal McNelis Gets Silly-Stringed!

October was a month to remember at our school as students, teachers, staff, and parents came together to celebrate something very important—attendance! This month, the celebration reached a whole new level of fun when Principal McNelis became the star of the show—drenched in silly string for achieving 100% attendance for October.

The excitement kicked off with Mrs. Hon, our emcee, leading everyone in a raucous chant: “Silly string the principal! Silly string the principal!” Students, staff, and even parents couldn’t wait to join in, and by the end, Principal McNelis was covered in so much silly string that he looked like a sparkly, colorful, walking spaghetti monster—and he loved every minute of it.

“I so look forward to these celebrations,” Principal McNelis said, laughing through the rainbow of strings. “Seeing the joy, the laughter, and the pure silliness makes all the hard work worth it!”

Attendance isn’t just fun and games; it’s a key ingredient in student success and achievement. Most students eagerly work toward coming to school each and every day, but the chance to participate in these exciting celebrations gives them an extra boost. This month, 132 out of 244 students achieved perfect attendance—a huge accomplishment worth celebrating!

Students were buzzing with excitement: “I can’t wait to get him!” shouted one third-grader, silly string in hand. Another giggled, “He’s going to be a rainbow by the end!” Parents joined in the fun, laughing as they aimed their strings with precision, making sure Principal McNelis had no escape from the colorful chaos.

Ms. Coyle shared her delight: “This is so much fun! Watching the students cheer, the parents dive right in, and Principal McNelis laughing through it all—it’s moments like these that make our school community so special.”

Our October celebration was proof that attendance matters—and it can be hilariously memorable too! With students, staff, and families all working together, our school community continues to thrive. And if the sight of Principal McNelis tangled in silly string is any indication, October’s attendance celebration was a resounding success!
