Caught Green-Handed: A Leprechaun at the Front Gate

Students arriving to school on St. Patrick’s Day were greeted with an unexpected sight—Principal McNelis at the front gate, fully dressed as a leprechaun and ready to welcome everyone for the day. The surprise sparked laughter, smiles, and plenty of double-takes as students made their way onto campus.

Many students and staff joined in the celebration by wearing green, adding to the festive and cheerful energy that carried throughout the day. From the moment the bell rang, it was clear this wasn’t going to be an ordinary school day.

In some classrooms, students discovered signs of leprechaun mayhem and mischief—evidence that a sneaky visitor may have stopped by overnight. Desks were a little out of place, materials had been “borrowed,” and curiosity was high as students tried to piece together what had happened.

In Ms. Griffin’s class, students took matters into their own hands by designing and building leprechaun traps, determined to catch the squirrely little guy responsible for all the chaos. Creativity, teamwork, and a lot of laughter filled the room as students put their plans into action.

It was a day full of fun, imagination, and school spirit—reminding us all that sometimes the smallest moments (and the smallest visitors) can make the biggest impact. Safe to say, there was a little extra luck on campus this St. Patrick’s Day.
