Our school recently celebrated a sweet milestone: 100% attendance for February! As a special treat, these hardworking students enjoyed donuts with Principal Mr. McNelis during their recess time. The donut spread was impressive, with a variety of delicious treats to choose from. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing PTSO officers Elena Adargo and Rebekah Green, student success facilitator Darla Davis, and our school secretary, Shanda Thomson.
The event was possible thanks to the generosity of Dunkin’ in Arvin, who provided a generous discount and extra goodies. It is great to see our community come together to support our students. Each month, students with 100% attendance get to participate in an attendance celebration. In recognition of their achievement, each student who had 100% attendance in February received a certificate. Several students exclaimed how cool it was to get donuts, and one student even approached the principal and said, “I am going to get 100% attendance every month until the end of the school year!” The excitement was evident as students asked for a second donut and were thrilled to get one.
But the fun does not stop here! Principal Mr. McNelis is introducing a new challenge for March. He is encouraging students to aim for at least one day a week with zero absences. If they succeed, they will be rewarded with extra recess time. It is just another reason why it is cool to come to school!
