Students and staff got into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with green attire and festive decorations throughout the campus. Principal McNelis set the tone for the day, greeting students at the gate in his own leprechaun finery.
But the real excitement happened in the kindergarten classrooms, where a sneaky leprechaun left a trail of chaos. There were chairs turned over, blocks scattered everywhere, books knocked off the shelves, and paint cans left open with paper and paint streaks galore. The students walked into a messy room and couldn’t believe their eyes! The kindergarten students worked together to clean up the mess and then followed a treasure hunt to find the goodies the leprechaun left behind.
Throughout the day, students in all classes participated in special activities and projects. Some students created their own leprechaun-inspired decorations, while others got to experience the mischievous side of the holiday. One kindergarten class even conducted a fun science experiment, testing different solutions – water, Pepsi, apple cider vinegar, vinegar, and juice – to see which would clean the leprechaun’s dirty pennies best. The students voted on their predictions and recorded their results on a graph. They also wrote and illustrated a book titled “What is Green?” As a special treat, the leprechaun left behind Rice Krispies treats and even decorated the paper leprechauns with shamrocks.
It was a fun and memorable day for everyone!
