Young Innovators Shine: 2nd Graders Excel in STEAM Lab

Our second grade students in Mr. Forrester’s class recently demonstrated their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in our STEAM lab, tackling an exciting challenge that combined physics, engineering, and coding.

The Challenge: Lego Soccer Goals and Robot Kick-Off

Students were tasked with designing and building Lego soccer goals, applying fundamental engineering principles to create stable and functional structures. The twist? They then used coding cards to program Marty the Robot to kick a ball into the goal! There was success across the board. In an impressive display of collaboration and determination, every team successfully coded Marty to score. Students learned valuable skills in design thinking and problem-solving, coding fundamentals using visual programming cards, physics and motion, and teamwork and communication. This project exemplifies our STEAM lab’s mission to foster creativity, curiosity, and technical skills in our young learners. By integrating hands-on activities with cutting-edge technology, we’re equipping students with the tools to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Congratulations, young innovators!
